Eureka Seven, Berserk, and Monster Hunter: World

No, these things have nothing to do with each other. I just want to write a little bit about each other. God, if only there were some cool platform I could post micro thoughts to that would become addictive to the point of irritation when my posts only get 4 likes. Oh well.

Eureka Seven

This is my youngest brother's favorite anime. He's been gently recommending it (read: harassing me) for over 2 years to watch it, since I started watching anime. The problem was I saw Gurren Lagann first and, while I love that anime, I realized I don't like mecha anime in general. So I was more than hesitant to watch Eureka Seven. But I am currently making my way through and I have just a few, simple questions:

1) What the hell is even going on? Why are they so vague about every single thing?

2) I don't know anyone's name on the Federation's ship. Who even is anybody? There's that snooty advisor brat from military headquarters. There's the cucked commander. There's Anemone or whatever. Anomaly. Her and Eureka are similar.

3) Can someone cosplay Holland so I can fuck the shit out of him? Goddamn every single thing he does is so sexy.

Okay that's it! Otherwise I am perfectly understanding the show and having a blast! I'm also watching the sub, which my brother hates lol

BERSERK

I'll admit, I struggle to read fiction for several reasons. This extends to manga. Even though there are visuals, I still have trouble putting the action together and making it make sense. In general, as much as I might enjoy manga at times, despite this, I read slowly and often have to make it a point to read, instead of waiting to want to read.

Berserk isn't like that. I look forward to reading it every night. I understand everything that's going on thanks to the beautiful and very vivid panels.

I'm enjoying the story a lot. I don't remember what volume I'm on (I'm reading the deluxe version--not a flex!), but it's the Nosferatu Zodd arc. For the first time in the entire story, I'm actually rooting for Guts. Not that I wasn't rooting for him before, but I just generally found him unlikable and I felt neutral about all his fighting. Well since then, I've been introduced to his childhood trauma and some of the reasons that he is the way he is.

Also he's really hot as an 18-year-old. I never was attracted to him until this specific arc. I don't know if it's just the way his face is drawn now or because he's still young without being a kid.

You'll be happy to know my attraction to Griffith is pretty low. He's my exact type. Cold and calculating femboy. But he just doesn't do it for me and I can't put my finger on why. That being said...I didn't mind those scenes where he was naked.

That's the most important part of this dark fantasy, beloved seinan manga--whether I want to fuck the characters or not. Obviously.

Monster Hunter: World

My MHW post on threads got a surprising amount of attention. Which was only 20 likes or so, but it still was surprising because I didn't expect that. There's a lot of MH fans in my mutuals/followers! I love that.

I'm playing through Iceborne for the second time, while it's my brother's first time (the one who recommended Eureka Seven).

I've been denying that I'm the best at Great Sword out of all the weapons. My very first runthrough of World (first MH title), I was an Insect Glaive main. And it was tough because I played Aerial Glaive. I don't know how I even beat Kushala Daora, but I DID break my TV first if that's any indication of how that was going.

All that to say, I play the weapon correctly now and it's super fun. But Iceborne is a tough expansion for me on that weapon. After base game the first time, I picked up GS and took to it like a weeb to anime tiddies. It was very natural but I didn't like playing it because my boyfriend at the time was a GS main. It's a simple weapon and I took no pride in copying him to play such a thing. However, I did it. I had fun in the end game playing it through a lot of difficult content. I beat most arch-tempered monsters with it (Kirin on water bow being the only exception. And I may have played IG against AT Vaal Hazak, I don't remember.)

Anyway, when we hit Iceborne, I had to switch back to GS from IG. The monsters were fast, loved to knock you around and stun you, and generally were difficult in ways that I was weak against on IG. That's not to say you couldn't beat Barioth or Tigrex on IG. I may have done that at least once against each. But it was a very bad time for me personally, even playing the "correct" way on glaive. So I switched back to GS. It was much easier.

In my playthrough with my brother, for some reason I went back to glaive on the base game. Maybe because I didn't have access to the good GSs so I refused to even play the weapon lol. But now we're in Iceborne and I'm like...should I switch? Should I try glaive? I guess there's no harm in trying it just to get better at the weapon I love so much. I know GS will be there for me if I need it.

As much as I've denied it, I'm a natural GS user. My now-ex boyfriend told me that last night and also that I picked it up even faster than he did (he did teach it to me, and I had spent a lot of time watching him on the weapon). But it felt good for him to acknowledge that and tell me that it might be a simple weapon but it takes good timing and patience, picking out your moments. That's usually my weak spot so I don't really know WHY I am good at GS. It feels great to land a tackle or a true charge at just the right moment though. I know that.

We will see what happens in Iceborne, Take 2: Electric Bugaloo.
